If you have ADHD or ADD and wish to do military service or apply to the Swedish Defense University or Police Academy, a medical certificate may be required. The requirements for the certificate are described in detail on each authority\u2019s website.<\/p>\n
The certificates must be issued by a psychiatrist and are always paid for by the applicant. The psychiatrist provides the certificate based on an individual clinical assessment and cannot guarantee that the applicant will be accepted by the Swedish Armed Forces or the Swedish Police Authority. In some situations, it may instead be more appropriate to complete an assessment of diagnosis (a structured re-evaluation of a previously given diagnosis).<\/p>\n
To allow the psychiatrist to make an initial assessment of whether there are sufficient grounds to issue the certificate, a remote consultation (video or phone appointment) is scheduled. The psychiatrist needs to have access to your medical records in advance of this appointment. If you both agree to move forward with a more comprehensive in-person assessment, you can then book a first appointment with the psychiatrist.<\/p>\n
